You May Be Struggling If You...
What are EMDR sessions like?
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It's a therapy approach designed to help your brain process distressing memories that feel unresolved.
When something overwhelming happens, your nervous system may not fully process the experience. Instead, it can become store in a way that keeps it feeling present and emotionally charged. EMDR helps your brain reprocess those memories so they feel less intense, less disruptive, and more integrated into your life story.
You won't be asked to relive trauma in detail or talk about it endlessly. EMDR is structured and collaborative. We move at a pace that feels manageable, and you remain in control throughout the process.
Over time, many people find that the memories are still there - but they no longer carry the same emotional weight or power.
Reduced emotional intensity connected to painful memories.
Decreased anxiety and reactivity in triggering situations.
Greater sense of calm and nervous system regulation.
Improved self-beliefs and self-compassion.
Increased ability to stay present rather than feeling pulled into the past.
